Usually, the tarsal joint on each foot falls at different angles and degrees. This most likely affects your leg length and systematically tilts your hip bones as well. The orthotics that align the ankle bones should realign the hip bones as well.
This is a test to see whether the hip bones are aligned.
Hip alignment test:
1. Sit on the front edge of a chair.
2. Move the shoulder forward to extend both hands slightly past the front of the feet on the ground.
3. Lift the weight; this will deliver the weight through the spine to the hip bones. First, without the orthotics and with the orthotics.
When the hip is tilted, the weight will slide off from it making the lift hard. But with the orthotics that align the anklebones realign the hip bone as well: thus, the weight can stay on it easily; so the lift gets easier.
